Free Gift Wrap and Handwritten Message for Mother's Day March 18, 2020 12:33

Mothers Day Gift

Free Gift Wrap & Handwritten Message

It’s a time of massive anxiety at the moment, I know I’ve been feeling horrendous these last few weeks.

Now it looks as though life will be looking a whole lot different for the foreseeable future.

I know a lot of you won’t be able see your Mum this #mothersday, or be in the same room as your loved ones this #easter. My daughter can’t even give her Grandparents a hug and a kiss for fear it could make them ill.

So I’ve been doing the only thing I know how, printing. I’ve made a ton of screen printed gift wrap. So if you want to send a gift to your Mum, your Gran, your friend or loved one, I’ll gift wrap it for free and include a handwritten note, to let them know you’re thinking of them.

Email your messages to

Let’s take care of each other and yes, #washyourhands

My First Make Your Own Lampshade Workshop March 3, 2020 10:53

Lampshade Printing Workshop Norfolk

On Sunday I held my first Make Your Own Lampshade Workshop.

We had such a creative group who all brought along great ideas, which we turned into some fantastic stencils.

We also learned how to mix inks to match the colour of their home before having a go at screen printing their brilliant designs.

Learn a new skill Norfolk

We had a little break for veggie chilli and cake (thanks Mum) before building our lampshades. I was so so impressed with the results and can’t wait for the next workshop.

Adding Labels to Handmade Napkins March 5, 2019 09:54

Labels in Napkins

After years of selling products online and at fairs, I’ve finally added a label! I have no idea why this took so long but I’m glad it’s finally happened. I’ve had people receive my products as presents and not knowing who made it, then they bump into me at a craft fair and are delighted. So here is a close up of my napkin, complete with Lottie Day label.

Screenprinting Tools and Materials March 4, 2019 09:52

Screenprinting in Norfolk

These are my screens. They are the bedrock of my whole business. My collections has slowly grown over the years. Where would I be without them?

My Tools for Screenprinting March 3, 2019 09:47

Screenprinting tools

I know we’re doing tools tomorrow but here is a flatlay of the things I use every day to create my work. I keep my ink in big peanut butter tubs, luckily we eat a lot of peanut butter on toast in my house. Then there is an old spoon nabbed from my Mum’s kitchen drawer, I used this to dollop the ink onto my screen. Brown tape is used to block out the parts of the screen I don’t want. Scissors used to cut material. Then there is my squeegee (great word) that I use to pull the ink through my screen.

How I Started as a Textile Designer March 2, 2019 09:45

Cow Illustration

This is one of the first illustrations I used for screenprinting. I actually studied contemporary crafts at Falmouth Universtity in Cornwall. I specialized in metalwork and automata. Then for various reasons I decided to take up screenprinting textiles. I’m not a trained illustrator, textile designer or screenprinter but I’ve managed to teach myself and learn along the way. I still like my rectangle cow, maybe I should bring him back?

Screenprinting a Feather Lampshade March 1, 2019 09:42

Handmade Feather Lampshade

Here is a shot of me making my feather lampshade. Lampshades are definitely my favourite to make because it often involves some kind of personalisation. Customers often choose a design from one of my napkins and then a colour to match their home. Lampshades can be quite tricky to make but like everything, practice makes perfect!

March Meet The Maker: Favourite To Make March 4, 2018 11:24

My screenprinted lampshade.

Each one is made to order and can be personalised to fit the customers’ needs.

Hare Lampshade

When you print al day it’s nice to have something different to do. I speak to the customer about where it’s going to live, get colour samples through the post, mix my own ink to match and personalise the design just for them.

Hare Lampshade

The making also involves a lot of concentration, if you get it wrong you have to start all over again, so it can be high pressure!

Hare Lampshade

It’s worth it in the end as each one is unique and I often receive a photo of it in its new home.

March Meet The Maker: How You Started March 3, 2018 11:19

Deck Chair

This is the first deck chair I ever printed. After finishing my degree in Contemporary Crafts (that course doesn’t exist anymore) I spent some time living in Cornwall, making automata.

I would collect old tins and adapt them into moving sculptures. It was brilliant fun and involved screenprinting onto metals.

Then for some reason (I don’t remember) I moved onto illustrating and printing textiles, despite not training as an illustrator or a textile designer!

I’d like to say it all went from there but to be honest I ended up working in a pub and trying to find space in my brain to be creative.

10 years later I’m running my own business and still producing screen printed deck chairs. I do miss Cornwall though ☀️

March Meet The Maker: Where March 2, 2018 11:17

My home is the Fine City of Norwich and my studio is in a village called Hindolveston in North Norfolk.

It’s a beautiful place to live and work, there’s a little bit of city and a lot of country. I love going for coffee and cake on the market or jumping in the car and heading for a windy walk on the beach.

My home provides a huge amount of inspiration for my work, from the local wildlife to my Dad’s allotment.

I ❤️ Norfolk.

March Meet The Maker: You March 1, 2018 11:05

My name is Lottie Day and I'm a screenprinter from Norfolk. I like peanut butter and sending fun mail to my friends.

I also enjoy funny-looking dogs, pop-up books, automata and pancakes.

I dislike washing up and the moth that ate my favourite jumper.

This is my daughter Raphaela. She likes raisins, dancing and is obsessed with the TV show Sarah & Duck.

BBC Countryfile Live 2016 August 10, 2016 11:14

Last weekend I took part in BBC Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

It was the very first time the event had been staged, so it was very exciting to exhibit my work in the Food and Home tent.

It was a huge event, similar to the Royal Norfolk Show, with animals, tractors and a LOT of cheese, gin and hog roast.

Being the first year, there were quite a few teething problems with things like traffic and general organisation...hopefully they'll be sorted for future events.

As always, it's a real thrill to sell my work directly to customers as well as interacting with so many other makers and exhibitors.

A huge thank you to all the people who were so complimentary about my work!

My next big event will be The Handmade Fair in September :)

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair July 19, 2016 11:39

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair

Introducing my new Vegetable Garden Deck Chair.

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair

This year I've been working on a number of new illustrations, on the theme of a vegetable garden.

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair

So fair I have adapted them into a number of products, including tea towels and napkins. The illustrations include radishes, baby carrots, spring onions and purple cabbages.

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair

I decided it would be a great idea to combine them into a full vegetable patch, so a double deck chair is the perfect canvas.

Like all of my deck chairs, it's made from sustainable hard wood, which is coated in teak's also made for sharing!

Vegetable Garden Deck Chair

My Vegetable Garden Deck Chair is now available from my online shop :)
